Automating with AI: Transparency reporting processes

Problem: Meta was experiencing a sharp increase in requests for transparency reports and ad-hoc responses to regulatory inquiries. Internal teams could not efficiently meet the demand if the trend continued.

Approach: Partnered with engineering, product designers, product managers, internal regulatory readiness team members who were the intended customers of this internal-facing product—they were the people who create the reports and send them back out to the requestors (often governments or journalists). The design used AI to automate the document sourcing and initial report drafting process, the most time-consuming steps.

Solution: Co-designed a custom LLM agent and dashboard to fetch legal and regulatory documentation and create first drafts of regulatory responses and transparency reports.

Result: Improved legal and regulatory response team efficiency by expected 90% through design-supported AI-powered tooling.
